How to check ESOP Shares?
Employee
Stock Option Plan (ESOP) shares are company shares granted to employees as part
of their compensation package. These shares often come with a lock-in period,
which means you can only sell them once this period ends. However, you can
still view and verify these shares in your demat account. Here’s how:
1. Understand the Lock-In Period: ESOP shares have a lock-in period during which you cannot sell
them. This period varies depending on the company's policy.
2. Check Your Demat Account: Even though you can’t sell the ESOP shares during the lock-in
period, the shares will still be visible in your demat account.
3. View Your Demat Holding Statement: To see your ESOP shares, log in to your demat account and check
your demat holding statement. This statement will list all your shares,
including the ESOP shares.
4. Use for Verification and Reconciliation: You can use the details from your demat holding statement to
verify and reconcile your ESOP shares. This ensures that you have a record of
the shares granted to you and can keep track of when the lock-in period ends.
